Music Rules

Teams performing at KOKUYOSA 2026 must observe the following rules for the music used in their performance.

📋 Handling of copyright

If you use commercially released music or existing works whose copyright is held by a third party, your team must confirm in advance that such use is lawful. The organizers are not involved in verifying rights or legality, and assume no responsibility should rights holders or third parties raise claims regarding music used at the festival or in videos posted to video-sharing sites.

🌏 Note for North American and Japanese teams

Both North American and Japanese teams should note that copyright law and the way licenses are obtained may differ between countries, and should complete any necessary procedures in accordance with their own country’s system.

⏱ Length of music

Music should be at most about 4 minutes 30 seconds. If you need to exceed this, please consult the organizers in advance.

🎵 Folk songs you may use

At KOKUYOSA 2026, the folk song quoted within your music may be Kochi’s “Yosakoi Naruko Odori” or Hokkaido’s “Soran-bushi.” You may still take part if neither is used, but this will be a deduction in judging.

* For any questions, please contact the organizers (info@kokuyosa.com).
