そして、KOKUYOSA 2026 開催決定のお知らせ
新年あけましておめでとうございます。
KOKUYOSA プロジェクト運営委員会 本田朋之 です。
2025年は、私たちにとって忘れられない一年となりました。
多くの方々の支えのもと、第1回 北米国際よさこい祭り「KOKUYOSA」を、
無事に開催することができました。
改めて、
参加してくださった踊り子の皆さま、
遠方から足を運んでくださった観客の皆さま、
そして、運営を支えてくださったボランティア、関係団体、協賛・後援の皆さまに、
心より御礼申し上げます。
KOKUYOSAは「一度きり」で終わらせない
第1回の開催を終えて、
多くの踊り子の方からアンケートをとり短期間で、80名もの方々がアンケートに答えてくれました。
以下、頂いた暖かいメッセージです。
開催者の方々も踊り子たちも、みんながどうなるか不安だった第一回目でしたが、そうとは思えないほどのクオリティで本当に驚きました。
金銭面でも、ホテルや食事を提供していただけたことが大きな支えとなり、そのおかげで安心して参加することができました。
第2回目ではさらに多くの観客が集まり、第一回目を通して進化した「こくよさ」にまた参加できることを今から楽しみにしています！
こんな素敵な心温まるイベントを開いてくださり本当にありがとうございました。第1回に参加できた事を心から嬉しく思っております。
運営の方々本当にお疲れ様でした。そしてまた継続が決まった事でこれからまた忙しい日々になると思いますが頑張ってください。
来年お会いできるのを楽しみに私達も踊り続けます。
改めまして運営してくださった皆さまに心から敬意と感謝を申し上げます。大人の部活、感情が動き熱くなった素晴らしいイベントでした。ありがとうございました。
第一回だったこともあり、不手際な事もある中で、ほとんどのメッセージが感動にあふれたメッセージの沢山でした。
そしてKOKUYOSAは単なるイベントではなく、
続けていくことで文化になるものなのだと、改めて強く感じました。
よさこいは、自由で、開かれていて、
人と人を自然につなげてくれる文化です。
その魅力は、日本だけでなく、北米、そして世界中に広がる可能性を持っています。
KOKUYOSA 2026 開催決定
その想いを胸に、第2回 北米国際よさこい祭り「KOKUYOSA 2026」の開催が決定しました。

📍 日加友好ジャパニーズガーデン（カナダ・レスブリッジ）
再びこの場所で、
国や言葉、チームの垣根を越えて、
よさこいを通じた出会いと交流が生まれることを、今から楽しみにしています。
2026年に向けて
2026年は、ただ「規模を大きくする」ことが目標ではありません。
大切にしたいのは、

2025年楽しんでもらえたワークショップやパートナーシップは今後も続けていく
-
ステージは一か所にして、観客だけでなく踊り子も他チームの演舞を見ることができる機会を作る
- ベンダーを入れて、日本文化を楽しんでもらう機会を作る
- よさこい以外の日本の伝統的な踊りも見られる機会を作る。
そのために、パートナーシップ制度や踊り子サポート、
ワークショップや交流の場づくりを、改善していければと考えています。
最後に
KOKUYOSA2025は、運営委員会だけできたものではありません。
関わってくださる一人ひとりの想いが重なり、少しずつ形になってきた祭りです。
2026年も、
この場所で、また新しい物語が生まれることを信じて、
一歩ずつ準備を進めていきます。

New Year greetings for 2026 — and the announcement of KOKUYOSA 2026
Happy New Year. This is Tomoyuki Honda of the KOKUYOSA Project Organizing Committee.
2025 was an unforgettable year for us. With the support of so many people, we were able to hold the first North America International Yosakoi Festival, “KOKUYOSA,” safely and successfully.
Once again, we offer our heartfelt thanks to every dancer who took part, to the audiences who travelled from near and far, and to the volunteers, partner organizations, sponsors, and supporters who made it all possible.
KOKUYOSA is not meant to be a one-time event
After the first edition, we surveyed the dancers, and in a short time as many as 80 people responded. Here are some of the warm messages we received:
As both organizers and dancers, we were all anxious about how this first edition would go — but the quality was so high it was hard to believe it was the first time, and we were truly amazed. The hotel and meals provided were also a huge support, and thanks to that we could take part with real peace of mind. We can’t wait to join an even more evolved KOKUYOSA at the second edition, with even more spectators!
Thank you so much for holding such a wonderful, heart-warming event. I’m truly happy to have been able to take part in the first edition. Thank you to everyone on the organizing team for all your hard work. Now that it’s been decided to continue, I’m sure busy days lie ahead — please keep up the great work. We’ll keep dancing too, looking forward to seeing you next year.
I want to express my deepest respect and gratitude to everyone who ran the event. It was a wonderful event — like a club activity for grown-ups — that stirred our emotions and fired us up. Thank you so much.
Even though it was our first time and not everything went perfectly, the overwhelming majority of messages were full of emotion. It reminded us strongly that KOKUYOSA is not just an event — it is something that becomes a culture by being carried on.
Yosakoi is free, open, and naturally connects people. Its appeal has the potential to spread not only across Japan but throughout North America and around the world.
KOKUYOSA 2026 is confirmed
With that spirit in our hearts, we’re delighted to announce that the second North America International Yosakoi Festival, “KOKUYOSA 2026,” is confirmed.

📍 Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden (Lethbridge, Canada)
We can’t wait for new encounters and exchanges through yosakoi to be born again in this place, beyond the boundaries of country, language, and team.
Looking ahead to 2026
For 2026, simply “getting bigger” is not the goal. What we want to value is:
- Continuing the workshops and partnerships that people enjoyed in 2025
- Using a single stage, so that not only the audience but the dancers themselves can watch other teams perform
- Bringing in vendors to create chances to enjoy Japanese culture
- Creating opportunities to see traditional Japanese dances beyond yosakoi as well
To do this, we hope to keep improving our partnership program, dancer support, and the workshops and spaces for exchange.
In closing
KOKUYOSA 2025 was not created by the organizing committee alone. It is a festival that has gradually taken shape through the overlapping feelings of every single person involved.
In 2026, too, believing that new stories will be born here in this place, we’ll keep preparing one step at a time.
