About the team
YOSOCA is the Calgary yosakoi team of the Kaede Cultural Society — the host of this North American International Yosakoi Festival. Formed in 2016, the team takes part in a wide range of Calgary events, notably appearing every year as a representative of the Japanese community in the opening “Stampede” parade. They are also active year-round across Calgary and Alberta, performing at Japanese festivals, street festivals, Calgary’s “OMATSURI,” and the five-night fireworks festival “GlobalFest.” Members range from children to adults, growing to a large team of more than 40 in the summer.
